Art History Illustrated: “Purity and Perfection: An Introduction to Minimalism”

Thursday, June 16, 2022

6:30-7:30 PM

Minimalism can be difficult to approach because of its frank honesty about its own simplicity and inhumanness. Think machined stainless steel boxes mounted on a gallery wall: austere, precise, cold. In this talk, we’ll attempt to dialogue with these aloof works by studying the philosophy that drove the movement to popularity in the 1960s, and getting to know its greatest stars.

Join us for our “Art History Illustrated” talk series, held the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. This monthly illustrated talk series is presented by art historian Brenda Edgar, in collaboration with the Carnegie Center for Art and History.
